Why won't you wear your new trenchcoat?

I think these pictures pretty much prove that the trenchcoat is a classic. And worth investing in. While I'm not ready to invest in a trenchcoat from Burberry or A.P.C. yet, mine from Zara's kidsdepartment will do for now.

Ps. Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes! The Harry Potter marathon was tough but awesome and quite sad too.

EDIT: After trying the Zara coat on for the 100th time I decided to return it. I'm not fully satisfied with the fit. It has kind of an a-line shape and the back's pleated. I guess I'd better start saving up then!

  3. If you're in the US, American brands like J.Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, and Kenneth Cole all do good trench coats.

  4. i want to go to a harry potter marathon! props on you for returning your trench.. i bought one that I thought was "the one" last year even though i had a few niggling doubts and now I realise it's not perfect and i shouldn't have got it just because it was on sale..

  5. I agree trenchcoats are an undeniable classic but it's very difficult finding the perfect one.

Also, happy very belated birthday! My friends and I had mini HP watching marathons leading up to the midnight premiere and it was like watching my childhood pass by before me. I know what you mean about it being bittersweet!

  8. ruby: Zwart is ook nice, maar beige vind ik inderdaad het mooist voor een trenchcoat! Ik zal eens kijken bij WE!

Pret a Porter P: Unfortunately I don't live in the US. I live in the Netherlands and those brands aren't available here. :(

hannah-rose: That happened to me lots of times in the past, and I'm sure I'll save money in the long run by only purchasing things that are absolutely perfect. It's sometimes frustrating though, being so critical, haha. If there's a HP marathon at the cinema, you should go! If not, a marathon at home can be fun too. ;)

Austere: Definitely! 'Classic' items are always so hard to find! There always seems to be something wrong with the garments. It's as if high end stores ruin a garment on purpose by adding frills etc. -_-
And you're right about HP, I started reading the books when I was 7, and I'll miss the films because each time I went to the cinema on the premiere date with my parents and sisters. A special kind of feeling which I can't put into words... ;)

Eliza: Oh, that sounds interesting! And thanks!:)

Anonymous: Thank you for the tip! I really like that one! Unfortunately Filippa K isn't sold in the city where I live. :( And it's probably sold out elsewhere. :( Hopefully I can find it online somewhere.

  9. As it hasn't stopped raining in London, my trenchcoat has been brought out every day this Summer! I have a black one from Gap which is great and a very traditional beige one from Warehouse. Definitely a good investment!x

  16. I agree with you – trench coats are certainly a classic. Whenever I see a woman wearing a trench coat, I can’t help but get the impression that she’s a classy and sophisticated lady. I also think it’s a practical thing to wear, especially on cold and rainy days. Now, I just have to find my wife that perfect trench coat she’s been begging me to give her this Christmas.
