First of all, I would like to thank you for reading my blog. But I won't be back to blogging just yet. Life is rather hectic these days and I'm not sure if I have enough ideas to keep this blog running. Maybe I'll give it a shot again sometime, next year. I've reached over 1000 followers via blogger , I would like to thank you all for following! However, I'm going to take a (short) break from blogging. I don't feel as if my blog has anything to offer in any way(anymore). Thereby, I'm kind of fed up with blogs, although I still very much enjoy reading the blogs I follow, most other blogs seem to have become rather repetitive, and therefore dull. I feel like my blog is one of them.
I'm not sure when I will get back to blogging, I don't even know if I will ever get back to blogging at all. Could be in a week, a month, or never again, we'll see...

I really do love a red lipstick. Remember when I bought a bright pink lipstick a few months ago? I've never used it. Whenever I feel like wearing lipstick I go for a red one. I just don't feel like 'myself' when trying another colour. Same goes for perfume and nailpolish. I've been thinking of changing my perfume, but I always go back to Miss Dior Cherie. And I only wear red polish on my nails. It might seem silly, but I like having only one scent/colour to go for. I love the idea of having a signature scent/look, and I think I'm slowly achieving that 'goal'.

I think these pictures pretty much prove that the trenchcoat is a classic. And worth investing in. While I'm not ready to invest in a trenchcoat from Burberry or A.P.C. yet, mine from Zara's kidsdepartment will do for now.

EDIT: After trying the Zara coat on for the 100th time I decided to return it. I'm not fully satisfied with the fit. It has kind of an a-line shape and the back's pleated. I guess I'd better start saving up then!

It was my birthday yesterday! We went out for a walk in the afternoon and later on we went to a Japanese restaurant, which was quite an experience. Shabu-shabu isn't really my kind of dish, but it wasn't bad either. Last but not least, we watched Rango, a film my younger sister and I wanted to see for a long time, and we weren't left dissapointed! I had a really nice day.

This has practically been my uniform look the last four weeks: slightly tousled hair, black eyeliner, raspberry lipstick dapped lightly on lips, miss dior cherie perfume, silver bracelet(now replaced by my new watch), black lace bra, black tee, black jeans and my suede ankleboots or converse trainers.

At the moment I feel most at ease wearing just a tee and a pair of jeans, preferably in dark colours. Which might be suprising, as most people tend to wear more colourful outfits during summer? Maybe it's the weather, my empty agenda or the bad luck I had during my recent shopping trips(seriously everything I want is either in the wrong size, colour or sold out completely), but I just don't feel much like 'dressing up' anymore.

As a gradution gift, my parents gave me this watch. I love it, I've been looking for a watch like this one for ages! I've never really worn a watch, but I'm sure that'll change, now that I have this one!

I have to admit that updating more frequently isn't going very well yet, despite blogging more often is one of the things on my 'things to do/resolutions after my finals' list. Talking about finals, this Thursday I'll hear whether I've passed or failed on my exams. To be honoust, I'm a bit nervous for the outcome. I even dreamed about it, a few nights ago. Better hope I don't have any prophetic skills, because I dreamed my testresults were horrible, haha.

Anyway, on to a different subject. Here's what I bought over the last six weeks:

Haruki Murakami - Dance Dance Dance, Saint James Minquiers shirt, Calvin Klein envy bras, Cheap Monday jeans, The Kooples ankle boots(old collection), J.D. Salinger - Nine Stories

I finally bought the Saint James shirt I talked about back in February. Although the fit is slightly different than I imagined it would be, I still like it a lot, and have already worn it a couple of times. The Cheap Monday jeans were much needed, as I only had one pair, because I absolutely dread buying jeans. They're usually either too tight, loose, the wash is off, and when I finally find a pair I like, my size is out of stock. So, I was quite happy when my size was available again on Asos. I hardly wear anything else, but this pair since I got them, due to the stretchy fabric, they're really comfortable.
If you have hardly any cleavage (like me), I totally recommend the bras from Calvin Klein! The fit is really nice and they're super comfortable. At first, I was a bit hestitant about spending that amount of money on a bra, but they've proven to be worth their price tag.

As for the boots, I was quite lucky when I came across them on ebay! I remember wanting them very badly a few years ago, but at the time I didn't have the money to buy them. Two years later I still loved them, and I don't think I'll ever get bored with them, even after the countless polyvore sets I already made with them over the years.

I don't think I have to say much about the books. I actually enjoy buying books more than clothes. The ones I got this time are by two of my favourite authors, I really adore their writing. I'm currently reading Nine Stories and I love it so far!
Anyone who has read it? If so, what did you think of it?

I rewatched La Belle Personne recently. I forgot how much I loved it, in fact, I think I even liked it better this time. It's a wonderful yet disturbing film about love, longing, anxiety and jealousy. I think it's a pretty intense movie, I couldn't help but feel sad afterwards. Also noteworthy are the costumes, I loved every single look, as often is the case when watching French films. Oh, and Louis ofcourse, why weren't my teachers that good looking?

Just a quick post before I get back to studying. I'll be so relieved when my finals are over! I'll have lots of free time soon, which means I'll be able to update more often.

I got the skirt in the second and fourth picture custome made. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted to(I really need to be more clear and specific when explaining what I want), but I like it anyway, until I brought it to another seamstress to make it slightly longer. After wearing the skirt for two days, I felt like it was a bit too short which made me feel uncomfortable, that's why I took it to a seamstress. But it didn't turn out right, the hem looks kind of flimsy(?) now. So, I'm taking it back tomorrow to get it fixed.

I finally have a week of vacation. Sadly enough, I have to study for my finals.

For the ones who wanted to know, I went to see Never Let Me Go yesterday, and I really liked the movie. I thought it was a beautiful and sad movie, I almost cried during some scenes.

Last week an anonymous reader asked me to post some photos of me wearing my marant boots, so here they are! I'm sorry for the crappy quality though, my little sister hates to take photos and I can't seem to find a good place to use selftimer.
The weather has been pretty wonderful, so far, this week, it feels great to be able to go out bare legged again!
I have a party tonight and the dresscode is white. I hardly have any white clothing, so I guess I'll just wear my white silk blouse with the brown leather skirt pictures above, and my marant boots or white chucks.
I actually don't feel like going at all. Right now, I'd much rather stay at home and watch two awesome movies which will be on tv tonight.

Oh well, I guess I'll just go to the party, I can always go back home and then I might even be on time for Eastern Promises.

After months of waiting, Somewhere finally went in premiere here, last Thursday. I had high expectations of the movie and I can't say I was dissapointed, I liked it a lot. Although the movie was a bit too silent and slow for me sometimes, it was visually quite beautiful. Somewhere is definitely a movie I'd like to rewatch sometime!

The last couple of weeks have been rather busy. Luckily I can take it easy until my exams start next month.

Anyway, ever since I purchased my beloved Marant boots back in February, I haven't bought anything apart from the things pictured above. Not spending any money on clothing and such actually feels rather good. Although my wardrobe is seriously lacking of some 'essentials' and there are quite a few things that need to be replaced, I don't really feel the urge to buy any new clothing. However, I did replace my beaten up chucks for a fresh pair yesterday, after postponing the much needed replacement for nearly two years. I might do a post about items that need to be replaced and maybe I'll post a list of things that I hope to acquire this spring/summer, too.

Alexandra from Her Ribbons and Her Bows and M. from 312 both inspired me to try out bright pink lipstick. At first I was a bit hestitant because I didn't think the colour would suit me, but I was actually pleasently suprised after trying it on, yesterday. Although red is 'my colour', I'm planning to wear pink lipstick more often.

On a different note, has any of you read Never Let me Go? If so, what did you think of it, and what did you think of the film? I'm currently reading the book and I'm quite excited to see the movie which will go in premiere later this month.

Back in December I was asked to do an interview for the Chinese magazine 'Milk X'! I can still hardly believe I was featured in a magazine alongside people like Sarah Rutson and bloggers Bryan Boy, Chantal from Cocorosa and Jenn from Le Fashion! What are the trends in coming 2011 S/S?
For S/S 2011 there aren’t any very specific trends. From miniskirts to maxi skirts, minimalism to all kinds of bold prints and lace. There wasn’t a specific color pallet. Colors varied from neutrals to bright colors like pink and red. So, you can’t really go wrong this season. A few of my personal favorite trends for this season are menswear inspired clothing, dresses with deep side splits and navy.

Any new brands in 2011 S/S?
Cerutti actually isn’t a new brand since it was established in 1881 but it’s Richard Nicoll’s firs collection as head designer of the label. I think he did a fantastic job at reinventing the label.

Please share with us your all-time-favorite brand/ designer? How about in 2011S/S?
tella McCartney and Phoebe Philo are two of my all-time favorite designers. I think they create clothes woman actually really want to wear. I also love French labels like A.P.C. and Vanessa Bruno. Margaret Howell is one my favorites for S/S 2011, because she brilliantly translates men’s clothing to women’s wear.

What are the fashion items a woman should possess in 2011S/S season?
I think every woman should own at least one good button-up shirt with a loose fit, Breton striped tops, a pair of brogues to ‘toughen up’ feminine outfits and a pair of simple high heels, maybe with pointed toes.

What’s your basic items in 2011 S/S?
My basic items for S/S 2011 are a beige trench coat, a pair of loafers, lots of (silk)button-up shirts, light cotton v-neck tees in neutral colors like white, grey and black and black ballet flats.

In your opinion, who is the up-and-coming designer?
In my opinion the up-and-coming designer is Reed Krakoff. He has been working for various American labels for over 20 years and finally launched his own label.

I had a hard time answering some questions because I don't know much about new labels and trends, lol.

THEY'RE FINALLY MINE!
I'm broke now but they're sure worth it. I love them so much!
From now on I want to buy smarter than in the past. I wasn't doing that bad to begin with, but I still made some mistakes last year and wasted a fair amount of money on things I ended up wearing only once or twice. I think I'm getting better and better at recognizing what works and what doesn't work for me. Besides, I like to make wishlists and I'd also like to start planning more of my purchases. That doesn't mean there isn't any room for 'spontaneous' purchases anymore but from now on I'm just going to think twice before buying something to make sure I really want it. I also want to try to stay away from Zara and H&M because those visits usually lead to dissapointment anyway. I've been familiar with the '4-5 french piece wardrobe' concept for quite some time now, but I think I'm ready now to actually apply this philosophy into practice.
I think the Dicker boots were a good purchase to start with.

Edit: I got the boots at Sky in Amsterdam.

Atonement is one of the few movies I could watch over and over again. I just love everything about this movie: the story, the scenery, the casting and the costumes, ofcourse. The green dress Keira wore is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful dresses in filmhistory.

I received these boots from H by Hudson yesterday. After months of searching for a pair of leather ankle boots similair to the Isabel Marant ones I found these online at Asos.
The leather is really soft and they're really comfortable. I think they'll get even better with more wear. Definitely my new favourite pair of shoes.

Despite all the work I had to do for school I did manage to snap some pictures of what I wore this week.
Really love those loafers. At first I was a bit hestitant buying them but I'm so glad I eventually did! Probably the best thing about these shoes is that I can easily wear them with rainy weather. A while ago I even spilled my cup of coffee over them and thought I ruined them. But within a few minutes the staines were gone!
Now you probably get my enthousiasm for these shoes, haha.

I have a testweek coming so I probably won't be doing much else but studying for the next few days.

Probably the most worn item in my closet is the black mini skirt. I've been wearing my black bandage skirts to death so it's time for replacement. As excited as I am for fall fashion, I try to hold on to summer as long as I can. I just love bare legs. I can hardly even remember the last time I went out wearing jeans or tights- except for work.

I really like the outfits above from Eleonore(rediscovered her blog today). They're perfect for days when the weather isn't too hot nor cold.

As you might've guessed from my previous post, I'm quite into black at the moment. I've always been a huge fan of black- especially all black outfits. It feels like wearing mainly black is the only right thing to do lately. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about black which I love. I think it has something chic and effortless. Never boring- at least not to me.
I made a collage of a few of my favourite black ensembles and one of some recent polyvore outfits which I'd wear in a heartbeat!

In the very beginning of this blog I posted an outfit video once. I don't know why I never made another one but I got inspired by Fleurette to do a video again.
I bought the sweater on sale when I was in Paris, I adore it. I like the thick fabrice and the fit. I actually bought the skirt in Paris, too. I like the fact that it has pockets.
I went to see A Single Man this evening, I thought the film was sumblime. I really loved it! If you haven't seen it yet, you definitely should!

Sorry for the slow updates. I haven't been in the mood for blogging nor did I have any inspiration for new posts the past few days. Let's just blame the heatwave... I haven't been up to much this week. I just watched a couple of movies(saw An Education today, thought it was excellent!) and I've been reading a bit. I finished The Dying Animal by Philip Roth a few days ago and I quite enjoyed it. I just started in The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, love it so far.

It's my birthday!
Paris is was great! Such a beautiful city. I wish we could've stayed longer! I really want to live there at least a few years someday. I don't know what it is, but there's something magical about the city. I was overwhelmed by it! I didn't take much photos during my stay. I forgot to make pictures most of the time or I was just too lazy to get my camera out. I'm too tired to write more about my stay right now, maybe later!

Rome was great! I saw lots of things and ate losts of gelati! I didn't do any shopping(only bought some souvenirs and a bracelet) but I don't mind much. I don't have the time to tell you more about my trip right now because I'm busy packing for Paris! My mom and I will be heading to Paris by train early tomorrow. We'll be staying until Thursday.

Vero Moda skirt

I was looking for this skirt ever since I came across an image of it via polyvore. I've been looking for this particular skirt for quite some time. They didn't have it at the Vero Moda in my city and everytime when I looked for it on asos.com my size was sold out. Luckily, I found it via another webshop, sans-online.nl. It was the last one in my size! The picture I took didn't do the skirt much justice though. It's much nicer in real life. But I want to wear it more like this, I think. It also reminds me a lot of the spring collection by Burberry Prorsum.

Isabel Marant Etoile dress

After months of searching on ebay, the dress pictured above is finally mine! I've been longing for this particular summerdress ever since I saw pictures of Alexa Chung wearing it two years ago. I can imagine wearing it on hot summer days as well as during the colder months when worn with tights and a cardigan.

I can't wait to wear it! I will post some outfit pictures as soon as possible!

A few weeks ago I bought a pair of leggings. I never thought I'd say this since I hated leggings at first- I still dislike most pairs though. The pair I bought aren't just leggings. No, they're perfect. 100% woolen and slightly sheer, just like the ones from Isabel Marant(pictured above). I bought a black pair but I'm thinking of buying them in grey too because they're not only pretty but also extremely comfortable. I don't wear them as leggings though. I only wear them with ankle boots.

sweater American Apparel - skirt,tights,ring and shoes H&M

I finally found a pair of dotted tights yesterday at H&M! I love them! Unfortunately there are already a few small holes in it.

I know, I really have to do something about the quality of my pictures. But the thing is, when I get home it already get's dark outside.
